These are two cast iron tiles cast in a bonded resin sand mold. The tiles where made from wax. The central ‘stalk’ is the pouring/feeder tube. on top of the tiles are the remains of air vents. The molten iron came in throught the feeder tube and filled the empty space that was occupied by the wax tile that was melted out prior to pouring in the iron. Any air in the mold was then forced to the top of the tiles and out through the vents. I will cut off the feeder tube and vents, sand blast it and exhibit it.
